How Therapy Works

For some people, the idea of therapy can be daunting and scary …. but at the core of therapy is a partnership between the person seeking therapy and a licensed professional, who’s sole purpose is to help that person toward being the best version of themselves.

What to Expect

The client picks the goal and the therapist works as a coconspirator in realizing those goals. The counseling process is less about finding problems with an individual and more about helping an individual become more whole, grounded, and self actualized.

During the counseling process, you and your therapist work together to map out all the obstacles holding you back in life, process feelings that come up, and develop new skills and a plan to overcome those obstacles.

Therapy can be as brief as a couple of months or as long as year, depending on the individual’s preference and stated goals.

Counseling is tailored to the individual and can be designed to help with specific diagnosis, designed to help an individual heal from a specific trauma, or guide a person through a relationship issue.

What are the benefits of therapy?

1.

Improved Relationships

Relationships are one of the most important things we have. Relationships can be an organism that grows and changes over time. The people closets to us can sometimes hurt us and leave us completely unsure of how to move forward.

Therapy can show ways to begin to heal from past hurt, move forward, and improve relationships.

2.

Working Through Trauma

Through the counseling process an individual can learn skills to work through past traumas, which can stem from childhood abuse, domestic violence, or being in toxic relationships.

3.

Develop Skills to Cope with Stress

Excessive stress that goes unaddressed can have negative health outcomes. Therapy provides a judgement-free environment where a person can breathe and ultimately develop skills to decrease stress.
